The Patachich Pilgrimage and Cultural Center was established as the successor to the Religious Tourism Office. The Center’s mission is to respectfully showcase and perpetuate the rich ecclesiastical and cultural heritage of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oradea. We are guardians and creators of values: our task is not only to preserve the treasures of the past but also to convey them in an experiential way to present and future generations.
The city of Oradea has always been a meeting point of cultural diversity and historical heritage. In our exhibition spaces, spread across the three floors of the Episcopal Palace, visitors can discover the treasures of ecclesiastical art from the 16th to the 20th century. Temporary exhibitions, through the works of contemporary artists, also bring today’s values closer to visitors. A special role is given to the hall dedicated to the cult of Saint Ladislaus. This special venue is freely accessible to all and offers spiritual enrichment especially for pilgrims.
The Patachich Pilgrimage and Cultural Center also aims to present and promote other cultural values of Oradea and the diocese: the Pomegranate Pharmacy History Collection located in the building of the Order of the Merciful Samaritan, the Cathedral of the Assumption, and the city’s other churches all welcome interested visitors with open doors.
As part of the city’s cultural life, we regularly organize events. During the monthly Musical Evenings held within the walls of the Episcopal Palace, the timeless beauty of classical music enchants the audience.
We believe that Oradea’s cultural and spiritual heritage is not merely a memory of the past, but a living value that creates community and shapes the future. We warmly welcome everyone who wishes to discover this unique world where faith and culture intertwine.
