Book Presentation

October 8, 2026
The big painted room of the Roman Catholic Episcopal Palace, Oradea, 2 Șirul Canonicilor, at 7:15 pm

We warmly invite you to the presentation of the scholarly volume entitled Hungarian Literature as World Literature. The volume was published in the prestigious Literatures as World Literature series of the London-based Bloomsbury Publishing. Its significance lies in presenting Hungarian literature in the context of world literature for an international readership: from the early modern period to the recent past, it examines the international connections, translation, and reception of Hungarian literature.

The presentation will be held in Hungarian. At the event, which will take place in Oradea immediately after the presentations in London and Budapest, the volume’s editors, Péter Hajdu and Zoltán Z. Varga, researchers at the Department of Literary Theory of the Institute for Literary Studies in Budapest, will be interviewed by László Boka and Magdalena Garbacik-Balakowicz.

The book presentation, taking the form of a round-table discussion, will be held as part of an international academic conference taking place in Oradea on 8–9 October, at Partium Christian University and, partly, at the Episcopal Palace. The comparative literature conference, held in Hungarian and English and entitled Transregionality and Cartographic Method in Comparative Literature, is also open to the general public.
