The sanctuary was constructed to serve the house and school of the Ursuline Order, and its furnishings and equipment were provided by the founder Szenczy Istv\u00e1n and his fellow canon Franz Xaver Rier. Originally, the modest Baroque-style church featured a small wooden tower with a spire rising above the gabled roof.<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 The church interior initially housed two altars: the main altar dedicated to Saint Anne, the church\u2019s patron saint, and a side altar on the Gospel side depicting the allegory of a Good Death. The current appearance of the church dates from a reconstruction in 1858, commissioned by Bishop Ferenc Szaniszl\u00f3. At that time, the Gothic-style main fa\u00e7ade and the tower on its right side were added. The reconfigured interior received new altars and a new organ, all funded by members of the Oradea cathedral chapter.
